Efficient Household Energy Management and Control: A System Dynamics Perspective

Abstract

This paper employs a system dynamics approach to investigate household energy consumption trends, particularly with the integration new technology equipment. Guided by key research questions, the study explores the causes of energy use, the role of awareness in conservation, and the impacts of internal and external variables like occupancy and temperature. Utilising a comprehensive model involving lighting, heating, cooling, and hot water modules, it examines factors such as appliance efficiency and occupancy. Findings emphasise the significant influence of energy conservation consciousness, validated through rigorous procedures. Multifactor scenario analyses offer insights into prospective adjustments, underscoring the importance of strategic interventions and technological advancements for sustainable energy futures.
