Abstract
β-Ketosulphinyl chlorides have been prepared by the reaction of isopropyl ketones with thionyl chloride and an attempt has also been made to determine the reaction mechanism from the kinetic data. These compounds show a diastereotopic effect of the gem-dimethyl group or suitably positioned hydrogen atoms.
