Wilks, Stephen John (1984). Design of a dynamic test system for traction batteries. Masters thesis, Aston University.
Abstract
During the course of analysis of state of charge indicators for traction batteries, reviews on battery modelling and existing state of charge measurement techniques revealed a lack of information on the response of traction batteries to varying discharge currents. It became evident that without such data there was little prospect for advances in either field and as a consequence there was a requirement for a test system that could perform transient and, more importantly, frequency response tests on a traction battery at realistic load currents. All previous work of this nature was discovered to have avoided the problems of a high current, sinusoidally varying load by using either small discharge currents or low voltage batteries...
