Croft, Michael Brian (1971). The Steady State Performance of Multi-Port Hydrostatic Journal Bearings. PHD thesis, Aston University.
Abstract
Hydrostatic bearings possess the desirable features of low frictional resistance, high load capacity and high stiffness even at zero speed. Consequently they find use over a wide field of applications. The present investigation is concerned with methods of predicting the performance characteristics of multi-port hydrostatic journal bearings operating under steady state conditions. Analytical predictions are made, based on the laminar flow through the bearing of an incompressible isoviscous fluid.
