Abstract

The aim of this article is to identify the factors that inhibit the adoption of collaborative management practices, specifically Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), Continuous Replenishment Program (CRP), Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) and Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) in the retail supply chain of fruits and vegetables. By carrying out a case study, we identified the following inhibiting factors: lack of extensive information sharing between the members of the supply chain, lack of integration of information, limited use of common systems and lack of technological compatibility, absence of mutual goals, absence of joint decision-making, and lack of intensive use of information technologies and integrated systems. On the other hand, even though the companies do not rely on the management practices aforementioned, partnerships between the retailer-supplier link in the supply chain of fruits and vegetables could be observed.
